Things I am sick of

1. Finding peanut butter smeared across my white kitchen cabinets.
2. Not being able to use my computer without someone begging to play Wall-E or noggin.com or for something to eat or to watch a show.
3. Finding my hair on everything constantly. I now understand how "mom" haircuts happen.
4. People always asking me for food.
5. People making toys out of things like hangers and old vitamin water bottles.
6. Constantly dressing like I'm running late for my 8:00 a.m. freshman English class.
7. Yelling about how I'm not going to make food at the moment.
8. A certain yogurt fan always leaving her foil yogurt lid yogurt-side-down on the table.
9. Losing my patience.
10. Kids playing "ghost baby" with Teddy by putting the living room throw on his poor little head.

Having sort of a "day" over here in case you couldn't tell. Nothing specific is that horrible. Just lots of little things that make me want to lock myself in my bathroom and hide out for a little while. Except nothing makes the kids want to hang out with me more than if I am in the bathroom, so that won't really work. Emma's hungry... back to the grind.... Serenity now.

No doubt. How can they possibly want to eat *every* time the kitchen is finally (what passes for) clean?

I'm having a day like that too, though minus 2 kids. We're having a quiet inside afternoon to remedy. Not getting enough sleep doesn't help either.

Hang in there!

Whenever I have a longing for a truly clean house, I remember what my mom has said about when she was a young mother. She says she sometimes wished she could put us on a shelf when we were little. You know, look at us from time to time and admire how cute we were but have us OUT OF THE WAY and STILL and QUIET for a few stinkin' seconds...doesn't that sound divine???

8:00 am freshman English class is a cruel test to begin with. On my list of things that aren't fair. Peanut butter and yogurt also aren't fair.

Look at it this way. You could have a supervisor (or other interloper) who has not raised kid one telling you how you should raise kids one, two and three. But you have inspired me. Tomorrow, I'm going to work with a jar of peanut butter. I'm going to spread it on a desk or 12. If they call me about it, my outgoing voice mail message will say, "Sorry. I've locked myself in the restroom."

Oh, I totally understand how you feel. I've had many days like this! Just keep thinking that one day you'll wish that your kids were still young and wanted to make your house a disaster!! Enjoy them even if they drive you crazy sometimes! That is the only way I stay sane! I think it will get a little easier for you when Teddy is bigger and sleeping for 12 hours a night!

Wow! Peanut butter AND yogurt? Talk about a cleanup! Not fun. Not fun at all.
