Haiku Friday

So here is my short assignment to myself since tomorrow is Friday and we are heading into a portion of the week where we get to take a few days off from work (in theory). In reality a mother's job of making grilled cheese sandwiches, brushing other people's teeth, and washing princess costumes by hand keeps going regardless of what day it is. Anyway, I still get excited about Friday. And here's a new reason to get excited about Friday....It's......HAIKU FRIDAY!!! (Check out my new button over there to the right!) I'm going to try to write some haiku and I thought it would be neat if you could write some too in the spirit of Haiku Friday and everything. Please?

If you don't already know what a haiku is or maybe you just need a refresher course, go here to learn the rules. Basically, a haiku is a poem written in three lines. The first line must be 5 syllables, the second line is 7 syllables and the third line is 5 syllables.

Get ready. Here are my attempts at haiku:

Sodor's an island
Thomas, Percy, and Gordon
Who's driving these trains?

This weekend's big goal
Charlie in Cars underpants
Potty-trained, ka-chow!

Why, Polly Pocket,
Are your clothes so difficult
But you're so easy*

Wow, I am so not a poet. I am giving up now. For some real haiku go here.

I love monkey bars
but they don't love me, boo hoo
Down I fell, kerplunk

A trip to the doc
An x-ray, weeks in a sling
I'll be swinging soon!

Boots

1.
Stomping in the snow,
From footprints we discover
Boots are on wrong feet.

2.
Woo-hoo for Charlie!
Thinking of you in boot camp,
From your veteran friends.

3.
Just remembered "Boots"
Is also friend to Dora.
Who *is* that guy, anyway?

As you can see, I have no idea how many syllables "veterans" is supposed to have. In any case, vroom, vroom to you all--hooray for Cars underpants!
